Ms Brown's spelling group and phase 6 spelling group 

Please use the Year 2 common exception words list.  We have already been working on some of them and you should recognise some of them from previous spelling lists. Please work through the list, picking at least 10 words to focus on this week - by the end of year 2 children need to be able to spell all of these words. 

Mrs Hunt's spelling group

Please use the 100 key words list provided.  Again, you should recognise many of these from the spellings each week.  Pick 10 words to focus on this week to learn how to spell. 

Advice for learning how to spell the words: 

Read the word, trace the word, write the word and say the word back. 

Play games with the words such as hangman or feel the word (write the word on the back of someone and see of they can work out the letters used).

Write the word in different ways - bubble writing, robot writing, curly writing, write the words in shaving foam, in mud, in sand etc. 

Lefties / righties  - write the words with the hand you don't normally write with.

Word searches - build your own.

Dictionary dash - find the words in a dictionary as quickly as possible.
