Whitchurch Combined School

Growing Today, Ready for Tomorrow

Task 1

Success criteria grid – we use these in class to check and edit our work. There is a copy of one below with a column on there for each day of writing. If you are unable to print, then please could you ask an adult to copy the grid into your exercise book? It will take a few minutes for them to do but the same grid will then be used for the rest of this topic.

Task 2

Watch the video lesson for the first diary entry.

Task 3

Now time to write your diary entry. Write it in your exercise book. Remember what we do in class:

  • work in silence with no distractions (you could put on some quiet ‘relaxing’ music if it helps you)
  •  set a timer for 10 minutes. Work without stop until it finishes. Then get up, jump around a bit and then sit down and set the timer for 10 minutes again. Then repeat. You shouldn’t need more than 20-30 minutes to complete the task.
  • When you have finished writing then read through your work and fill in the first column on the success criteria grid. Please use a different colour for each success criteria and underline where you have done it in your writing just like we do in class.
