Year 2 Great Fire of London Day - Spring 1

Young Voices - Spring 1

Young Voices 2026

On Thursday 22nd January, the Whitchurch Choir travelled to the O2 Arena in London to take part in the Young Voices concert. Since September, the children have been working incredibly hard to learn all the songs and dance moves, and they were beyond excited to finally perform on such a huge stage.

At the arena, we were seated right at the very top, almost next to the ceiling! It certainly took a little while to get used to the height, but it didn’t dampen the excitement. Throughout the entire day, the children worked tirelessly, behaved beautifully and were an absolute credit to Whitchurch.

The concert itself was truly amazing. The choir joined in with huge enthusiasm, with many of the children singing, dancing and jumping around for hours without a break. The journey home was a long one this year, but it was also a very quiet one, filled with exhausted children fast asleep after an unforgettable experience.

A massive well done to all the children for being so amazing, and a huge thank you to the adults who gave up their time and stayed until late at night to make this wonderful opportunity possible.

Reading Buddies - Spring Term 1

📚✨ Reading Buddies Afternoon ✨📚

We enjoyed a truly wonderful afternoon with our Reading Buddies at Whitchurch Combined School.

The children came to school dressed in their pyjamas and comfy slippers, bringing along their favourite books for a cosy and relaxed reading experience. Throughout the afternoon, our older pupils did a fantastic job of collecting their younger buddies, finding quiet, comfortable spaces around the school, and sharing stories together.

This special event is always a firm favourite. The younger children love spending time with their older buddies, listening to stories and enjoying the calm, caring atmosphere that reading together creates.

Winnie in Year 1 told us:
“I love it because we get to bring in our favourite book, wear my pyjamas and read with Erin and Annabelle who are in Year 6.”

Moments like these truly highlight the caring and supportive spirit of our school community, and we are so proud of all the children who took part.
