Writing

Writing

Writing makes children's thinking and learning visible and permanent.

It provides children with opportunities to explain and refine their ideas to others and themselves.

Like reading, it is a vital tool for facilitating progress in almost all other subjects.

Our programmes of study for writing are constructed similarly to those for reading and support the children's competence in both transcription and composition. In addition, pupils are taught how to plan, revise and evaluate their writing.

Spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation

Pupils are taught to control their speaking and writing consciously and to use Standard English. They are taught to use the components of spelling, grammar and punctuation and to understand how each of these elements  make language work.

Please read our policy for more information.
